Life events in 2025 and 2026 compelled me to slow down more to process those changes. This proved to be remarkably difficult coming from a fast-paced life amidst a distracting, chaotic world, and I wrote this piece concurrently to help my introspection and reflection.

Most days in April 2026, I’d leave my phone at home, walk to Barnsdall Art Park in Los Angeles, (try to) meditate, take in the nature, read, and (try to) compose. For the first few days, it was difficult to even acknowledge distractions without being carried away by them. It feels fitting that this piece was written for the Walden School, since Walden prioritizes listening and mindful presence in a uniquely meaningful way.

Special thanks to International Contemporary Ensemble and the Walden School for commissioning this piece.
